Leaching Kinetics of Hemimorphite with 5-Sulfosalicylic Acid

The kinetics of leaching zinc from hemimorphite was investigated. factors that influence were also evaluated, and a kinetic model built. In addition, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) used to investigate the changes surface morphology before after leaching. By decreasing particle size increasing temperature, 5-sulfosalicylic acid concentration, stirring speed, rate can be enhanced. shrinkage nucleus describes chemistry activation energy by in process determined as 55.244 kJ/mol. reaction based on expressed semi-empirical formula:1−1−x1/3 =[k0C0.3385(r0)−0.6083(SS)0.4992exp(−55.244/RT)]t. At condition 50 °C 0.175 mol/L 82.5 μm 650 rpm high rates obtained. After time 15 min, reached more than 95%. According SEM-EDS results, residue are distributed blocks, but is smaller, atomic concentrations Zn Si significantly lower those hemimorphite, so effect remarkable. Therefore, solution would an excellent agent for extraction hemimorphite.
